Grieving children, six to ten
Play, let off steam, remember. The adults have tea next door.
Children grieve differently from adults. They jump into their feelings and out again, which protects them. Some play, others withdraw, are angry or defiant. Grief does not always show as tears.
A punchbag, a lovingly decorated treasure box for keepsakes and free play all help. Meanwhile the accompanying adults sit together over a cup of tea in a room of their own.
